The most famous hole of Quinta do Lago South Golf Course - and one of the most photographed of the Algarve - is No.15, a memorable Par 3 requiring a 200m shot over a lake from the championship tee, onto a green surrounded by pine trees. #### Quinta do Lago North **18 Holes | Par 72****Design: Beau Welling**Recently redesigned by renowned American architect Beau Welling, in close collaboration with European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, the new layout focuses firmly on precision and strategy. There are four magnificent Par 5’s but the most spectacular is Hole 12, featuring a lake on the left side that runs along the fairway until just before the green. #### Quinta do Lago Laranjal **18 Holes | Par 72****Design: George Santana da Silva**Originally an orange grove, which gave the course its name, this course provides golfers a completely distinctive experience. Its narrow fairways and well-defined greens require full concentration and accuracy. It is worth noting that Laranjal is environmentally friendly: its lakes are an integral part of a sophisticated drainage and irrigation system, and the only construction is the Clubhouse, designed to seamlessly blend in with its natural surroundings. #### Quinta do Lago Pinheiros Altos **27 Holes | Par 72****Design: Ronald Fream and George Santana da Silva**Offering an original design and layout, made up of a combination of three nine hole courses, Pinheiros Altos is known for providing an exciting challenge due to its well-placed hazards. Its signature hole is the island green 8th hole in the Olives (blue course) although experts will tell you that the 8th in the Corks (yellow course) is likely the most difficult Par 5 in Portugal. #### Ocean - Vale do Lobo (11 mins) **18 Holes | Par 72** **Design: Sir Henry Cotton**Opened in 1968, The Ocean golf course features undulating fairways, along a nature reserve that slopes gently down to the shores of the Atlantic. In a privileged location, players will enjoy some of the most emblematic views of the Algarve, with the hole15 fairway running along the beach. #### Royal - Vale do Lobo (11 mins) **18 Holes | Par 72****Design: Sir Henry Cotton and Rocky Roquemore**Opened in 1997 and also designed by Sir Henry Cotton and Rocky Roquemore, the Royal Golf Course boasts undulating fairways, set in an absolutely stunning landscape. This is one of the most photographed golf courses in all of Europe and one of the most prestigious golf courses in Portugal. #### Vila Sol - Quarteira (19 mins) **27 Holes | Par 72****Design: Donald Steel**Opened in 1991, the course at Vila Sol, located close to the main tourist attractions in Vilamoura, was designed and maintained with a focus on preserving the course’s natural environment, providing an idyllic setting. The carefully designed bunkers and well-placed waterfalls make the Vilamoura Victoria a stunning course for playing golf all year round. --- #### Eastern Algarve --- #### Castro Marim (50 mins) **18 Holes | Par 72****Design: Terry Murray**Opened in 2001, Castro Marim is located near the historic town of Castro Marim which is a 15 minute drive from the Spanish town of Ayamonte. Set in predominantly undulating terrain, it offers impressive views of both the Atlantic and the interior of the Serra do Caldeirão and is located in a resort free of buildings. There are thousands of carob and olive trees all over the course, as well as the famous lake island on hole 17. This course demands careful positioning to score well.
